FON and Mac

We’ve just released the beta of FON access point software for Macs. We are targeting a mid-April release date. If you would like to test please e-mail Albert. The new software turns any Mac into a Fon access point! It allows you connect your Mac to a 3G, EVDO or HSDPA connection (please make sure your carrier allows this!) and offer FON WiFi to those around you.

You can then regulate the amount of bandwith you share to insure your own connection remains strong. The bandwidth you share will then be free to Linus FONeros and cost 3 euros/dollars the first day and 2 euros/dollars thereafter for others. As a Bill you can take 50% of it! This could make you a very popular person in a lot of places!

PS - it was hard not to use the term iFON in that post!

Hi!

How about showing current firmware version at "Downloads" ? Or something in La Fonera firmware at admin webpage that show if there is a new firmware update.

Thanks!

Hi,

I've been using Zyxel G-220 in my laptop together with 3G card. I link them using Windows internet connection sharing. The combination seems to work very well. Any idea when you are going to support FON for this combination? This would lead to much wider support... Anyway about 90% have Windows in their laptops. The Zyxel card retail price is about 30 eur with taxes, so you could easily subsidise it.

Cheers,

Unknown soldier
