La Fonera Update

La Fonera will begin shipping in September and will include two networks! One is FON and the other is called "my place" for friends and family of the Fonero! Below are some pictures of the Fonera production line.

Any technical spec available? And what about price? I'd like to take a pile of them :-)

Words do not express how dissapointed we are that the dual-SSID firmware will only be for this router. There has been a history of fon making straightforward promises that turn out to be highly conditional or only half-truths when unveiled. It would also be in your best interest to allow the fonero to select his own private SSID and encryption key, and let him set these things locally instead of relying on your user zone portal.

Does this router mesh? Another conspicuous omission is technical specs on the kind of encryption this router has, and whether it can be adjusted or even disabled as needed. The clear impression is that fon is withholding the worst possible news, as usual.

Mesh was long promised - I hope this router does it... this would be a big step forward

Just recieved Linksys router

Two bads (the small stuff in the contract that we read even less when it sounds like linux and sharing):
1: No encryption possibility
2: Login at each restart of system and browser

Will I get a firmware update in the future that allows to undo the bad?

I agree 100% with AustinTX.
The fact that you are leaving all us early adopters out in the cold is pretty ridiculous. I hope that you bring this and all new features back to the older WRT routers.
La Fonera looks really sweet though.
