Fiesta Fonera!

Today we're celebrating! You have probably already noticed our new web page. That's not where it ends! Below is a quick overview of what's happening today with links to more details!

1. La Fontenna available in our shops.
2. We're launching WifiAds where Bills earn 5 cents per ad shown!
3. Bills can now roam free – everyone can become a Bill!
4. Foneros in Spain can enjoy the new SMS payment system.

Will it be possible to switch the WifiAds OFF ?
I don't plan to become a Bill (my ISP doesn't like that), and have no interest in irritating the audience (if I ever get one).

Are we still limited in numbers of status changes we can make ? I will order the fontenna, and I'd want to try bill but I want to make sure I can become linus afterward.

Another question: is the fontenna omnidirectionnal or does it beam in one direction ?

Euronerd - At this time it is not possible to turn the ad option off, but it's an option, no one is forced to watch an ad. They can watch the ad if they want 15 minutes of free surfing, but the ad does not play unless the user registers as an alien and request to view it.

theBrave - I will need to check on this. Since Bills can now roam I don't think we need to limit this but I will confirm. The Fontenna is directional.

Great! I ordered a Fontenna today.
But I have a question: How will FON handle the new GPLv3? As GPLv3 says that users must have the ability to modify the firmware, and flash the router with the new firmware?

budowa domow - The Fontenna is directional.
Source - I'm not sure. I'll find out and provide an update.

I got a fon invite (to get a discounted fon) from a friend but when I try to add a fontenna to the order, the subtotal jumps from $20 to $50. Any chance I can get a cheap fontenna with my order?

Regards
